Mr. Yeung looks at English language, not as a reader or teacher, but as a writer. From the writerly perspective, he can see patterns of the language that others fail to see. He believes that the areas that cause Chinese and non-native students problems in fact offer creative writing possibilities. What we ignore is also often what is important. For a breakthrough in learning English we should turn to function rather than form or grammar. At the end of this seminar, participants should be able to explain what it takes to write and speak with impact, guide themselves to leapfrog from grammar to function and adapt a system for life-time self-learning to suit individual purposes.
