文化自信與文化自覺相輔相成，但文化自覺過去沒有得到足夠的重視。要提升國家形象需要有高度的文化自覺，文化自信只有建立在文化自覺之上才是可靠的。就翻譯而言，文化自覺的最終目的就是要在不損害中國文化精神的前提下，以最合適的方式來解讀和翻譯最合適的典籍材料，從而達到消解分歧，促進中外文化的交流，極大地滿足西方受眾閱讀中國典籍的需要。綜合考察中國經典英譯狀況，我們認為中國經典翻譯需要借船出海、中西合作，以達到文化傳播的最佳效果；對外翻譯應該抱著厚今薄古態度去做，能反映當代的文學藝術和社會文化作品都需要得到更多的關注，需要有系統的規劃，以便我國的文化戰略能夠得到最好的效果。衡量中國文化經典翻譯的優劣以及海外傳播的有效性應該充分考慮物件國的需求，國外的銷量，國外圖書的流通量，被引用資料等。只有這樣，我們的文化傳播機制才能客觀、暢通。 [Go to the full record in the library's catalogue]
