一九六零年代，鍾教授隻身從台灣走到美國讀書，經歷了一場巨大的青年運動，使她深受文化震盪，成就了她往後的文學之路。在《我心所屬 - 動人的理想主義》一書，她通過訪問代表人物肯尼斯・雷克羅斯、蓋瑞・史耐德、勞倫斯・佛令格第等作家和詩人，呈現了這些「疲脫的一代」精神領袖對主流文化的態度和觀點，如何激烈地向美國知識權威和主流文化挑戰，如何影響了後世對文化的理解，也探討了他們如何從東方文化尋找精神營養。 隨後的講座由作家及詩人劉偉成先生主持，鍾教授、商務印書館總編輯張倩儀女士和Roundtable Community 總幹事林輝先生分享了他們對理想主義的見解和體會。鍾教授認為理想主義是相信和追求和平、社會公義、真理、人性的善、民主主義、美術價值和愛，所有的追求有很強的利他主義。張女士說六十年代那場運動影響七十年代的香港學生運動，其影響也穿越時代至九十年代，對她而言更是影響一生。劉先生表示現代年輕人「動人」，不要分化他們。他分析了八十後，說他們是互聯網時代長大的一群，追求速度、趣味，有熱情、對知識渴求強，但少親身體會，也不易被改變。林先生表示不介意被標籤為八十後。他說八十後參與社會運動的一群比市民悲觀但亦樂觀。悲觀是明白社會狀況，但個人無法改變，樂觀是覺得有希望。 [Go to the full record in the library's catalogue]
