This conference brings together academics, journalists and others to discuss the effects of satellites, web technology, optic fibre cables and wireless on international news. Digital technology has affected every aspect of the sector: the way international news agencies operate, the training and education of journalists, commercial pressures, the ability of the news to challenge governments and big business, and the new competition from blogs and citizen journalists.
