SEMINAR SERIES : Translation seminar series

MAJOR SPEAKER : Torres, Esther
LENGTH : 91 min.
ACCESS : Open to all
SUMMARY : The internet is a new global space where exchanges take place on several topics and in many languages. Certain platforms provide opportunities for research in the shape of semi-organized data on literary and social contexts and access to possible far-located research populations. However, the use of online resources in research entails certain methodological consideration, manipulations barriers, and ethical concerns. This seminar will revise previous experiences with Amazon.com, Google Translate, Proz.com, Facebook and Twitter, and Wikipedia to highlight some of the pros and cons online resources face and what needs to be planned beforehand to obtain the best research outcome from these platforms.  [Go to the full record in the library's catalogue]
